      <image:caption>I’m a level designer, 3D artist, avid 3D printer, builder and all around Maker, I like to create spaces that people like to be in or that convey a specific mood, feeling or theme in both Level design and my hobbies. I am currently looking for employment at a leading edge game studio in multiple roles at this time, but my long term goals mainly consist of working as a Level designer in team of diverse and hardworking individuals. I currently live in Ontario Canada am am looking for jobs in that area primarily but I’m also open to moving to any location needed from a future employer.       <image:caption>rePAIR is a Local Co-operative game in which two players are anthropomorphic tools, they must fix old toys while trying to beat the clock. This game was made in 48 hours for the 2020 Global Game Jam and displayed in the Living arts center in Mississauga Ontario.       <image:caption>in my second year I helped my team of six people with the game: Plünge, this game was an alternative controller game that used two plungers as controllers in a plumber themed battle of mini games. we created this game for the programs “ sprint week “ in which we had 4 days to create a game along a set of rules, or “ Challenge “ this semesters challenge was to make an alternative controller game, Hence Plunging based minigames. This Game was also shown at Alt Ctrl GDC 2019, and was nominated for the IGF awards.</image:caption>

      <image:title>The plungers - The Idea:</image:title>
      <image:caption>The main Idea for the plungers, and with Plünge was for a carbon copy challenge of Alt.Ctrl.GDC design wise, for this challenge I was tasked with making our controllers as I had the most experience with minor electronics and wood working. For the challenge there were two different ways for the teams to actually make their controllers, the first way was to make a physical object and have the game supplement the object and have most of the focus be placed in the real space rather than that he virtual one, the second was to have you game be controlled by the most literal interpretation of the games movement system IE (A game about sledding down a hill be controlled by leaning on an actual sled). We opted for a mixture of the two in which the controller defined the game but the main focus for the player is the game itself, as for the origins of the idea, we decided that we wanted to make a game with something that would get a laugh out of anyone who played with it, as such a toilet plunger was brought up and we went with the idea.</image:caption>

      <image:title>The plungers - Production of the controllers:</image:title>
      <image:caption>The first problem we faced was to figure out how how we were going to build the thing, we were going to use motion detection to build them but decided against that as we were in a 4 day time crunch, we finally decided to use a product called the “Makey Makey“ this allowed us to make simple button inputs by just completing a circuit. The “Makey Makey“ brought on its own challenges however, most of them where ironed out with testing, such as what we were going to use to hit the strike plate without breaking it. My main reason for controller production had to do with my hobbies outside of games design, because of that I have almost any tool needed to build things with wood, so I was able to produce a more finished product than most of the other teams.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Infiltrate the recently stolen explosives factory and eliminate the groups leader and his second in command, use stealth to make your way through the factory and take out the targets quietly.       <image:caption>Zone 3 mainly consists of an open area, which leads into Zone 2 and a building with multiple floors and lots of cover. The buildings have access to open areas like the roof of a small house, and access to an apartments terrace which overlooks Zone 2, the terrace also has cover to balance with the turret directly on the other side of the map. The open area of the map is mainly built to direct players to either the building in Zone 3, or towards Zone 2, however cover pieces have been added to the open area in that actual map to allow for better player survival.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>This section is built to teach the player how to jump, the gap between the cliffs and the tree branch is about 3/4 the distance of the full jump making sure the player should be able to jump the gap with even the smallest input. If they don’t however a staircase can be found on the left side of the gap making sure that the player can’t get stuck, finally as a recurring theme, I mark important areas for the player with blue glowing mushrooms, in this case towards the opposite cliff face.</image:caption>

They will then preform a vineshot which pulls the player towards the location they are aiming at, the gap they will fly over, is too big to be jumped over, but can be traversed with the vineshot. As they inadvertent striking an enemy, they are being taught that the vine shot can be used to damage enemies, the opposite path opening is marked to tell the player where they need to go.</image:caption>

If the should fall however they will always be reset to a re spawn point nearby making for easy re-play ability and experimentation, to keep with the visual language I use throughout the tutorial, I marked the branch to denote possible connection points.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>This game is a VR target gallery, your goal is wanton destruction and robbery, you must destroy artifacts and break your way through anything that much be hiding that sweet sweet cash. In the museum level you must break through the locks on cabinets, destroy the glass artifact casings, smash and grab the large fossils and hold up the passersby by shooting open the doors. Doing each of these tasks rewards you with money to place in your bag and searching the environment can reward you with bonus’s like raining money, value multipliers, more ammunition and faster ways to gather bills.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>As this project was a co-op position my team and I had a small amount of working time, Nathan our programmer did a fantastic job in programming new mechanics and ziyad made some fantastic weapons and environment assets. Due to this small time certain functions were not complete, out of the planned mechanics we wanted to implement, only a couple actually made it to fruition, the Cabinets, the fossils, and the artifact cases all made it into the game. However the passer-by mechanic and the Bonus effects never made it past the prototyping phase.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>In the final level I felt that I got the feel I wanted, that of a museum conservatory, filled with stacks of paper and a great place to hide objects for the player to discover, but I felt that I could have gone a lot further in vertical spaces, in the sense that I could have stacked more objects to vary the target locations. I could have included taller cabinets, crates that required multiple shots to break, and stacked more objects on top of themselves, that and I wish I placed more stuff on the walls, things like paintings, diagrams, and technical drawings to break up the colour of the walls.</image:caption>
